When to go
Croatia’s climate is influenced by the Mediterranean climate on the coast with warm summers and mild winters, and continental inland, where it is slightly hotter during the summer, and extremely cold during winters. July and August are the peak seasons for visiting the Adriatic. This is the time when also many Croats visit the coast, so beaches and cafés will be crowded and social and cultural life in the inland is scarcely taking place. In terms of finding a hotel, private accommodation, or camping sites, it is most convenient to travel in June or September. Autumn is a good time to explore inland Istria and National Parks like the Plitvice Lakes and the River Krka with its beautiful waterfalls.
