Vukovar
Certainly the most beautiful and interesting town of Eastern Slavonia, Vukovar is a Baroque pearl once known for its churches, elegant 18th century buildings, numerous museums and art galleries. However, today it is rather known worldwide for its role in the Yugoslavian Civil war. It is close to the Serbian border in North-Eastern Croatia and was divided in the course of the Civil war and about a third of its inhabitants had to leave.
