Podgora is a place in the region of Split. The small resort Podgora is located south of Makarska and Tucepi on the Makarska Riviera. Podgora is a place with around 3000 inhabitants. Here there is a port with fishing boats and a stone walkway with waterfront.

How to get to Podgora
Since the road opened A1 it is best to go over it until Sestanovac. From here, resuming the Adriatic Highway in the direction of Makarska. The alternate route is the ferry from Rijeka and Split, or by train from Split. For all those who come by plane descent in the AIRPORT in Split. From there, you drive a bus on the preferred destinations.

History of Podgora
Podgora is for the first time mentioned in 1571. year. From this era, there are remains like the cemetery with monuments. Upper PODGORA, which was inhabited by the great earthquake of 1962. The series keeps the remains of churches, and most important buildings is a large tower on Mount Roščići which originates from the time of Turkish invasion, aT time is adapted for habitation. By the second half of the 20th century it was situated more of Biokovo, and only after the earthquake, locals have started to migrate closer to the sea. Adriatic road has greatly contributed to the develop of tourism.
