Dalmatia

Dalmatia has a spectacular coast -line with high mountains dropping right into the Adriatic. The well-preserved medieval towns in Venetian style seem Italian. Water quality is stunning with very clear waters. The coast is very different to the stony interior, which has not been very developed as most people worked as fishermen, olive farmers and other occupations, which mainly were situated at the coast.

Getting around in Dalmatia is rather simple, following the main road, the Jadranska Magistrala, (Adriatic Highway). Frequent busses daily run along the Highway, connecting the major towns. The Zagreb- Split motorway links Dalmatia with Northern regions. Ferries run from Rijeka to Dubrovnik, calling at most major ports and islands of Dalmatia and there are ferries to Bari in Italy and Igoumenitsa in Greece, as well as Zadar- Ankona.
