Dos and Don’ts
If you are travelling to Croatia you should have these Dos and Don’ts in mind:
- Nature is stunning in Croatia so it is natural that visitors are expected to contribute to its preservation. Do not start fires, do not leave litter lying around and respect flora and fauna.
- It is possible to enjoy summer in Croatia in shorts and T-shirts and naturism beaches and camp sites can be found mostly on the main islands of Istria and the Istrian coast. But do stay in designated areas and do not walk around in bikini or swimsuit through the towns. Cover legs and shoulders when you walk into a church or monastery.
- Homosexuals may have been legalized a generation ago but remains a taboo, mostly inland. There is no homosexual scene, even in the rather liberal town of Dubrovnik.
